Betula pendula 'Royal Frost' Tree
A striking tree, the leaves of Betula pendula 'Royal Frost' are a rich, dark purple that pops against the white bark. These contrasting features beautifully enhance each other and were achieved by pairing, 'Whitespire' with 'Crimson Frost'. This is an exciting, relatively new variety that was cultivated in 2006.
The foliage is brightest when grown in full sun although grows well in partial shade. The leaves turn yellow-orange in Autumn, making Betula 'Royal Frost' one of the best Birches for variety of colour. It has an upright, spreading habit and can grow to approximately 7 metres in height and 4 metres in width after 20 years.
